Monday 6th June 2011 – Worldclass Fayre

On the 24th and the 25th of May there wass a Worldclass fayre. There were many stalls including a guess the weight of a cake, guess the name of the teddy and guess how many sweets there are in the jar. In total there were 16 stalls! There was a chocolate fountain as well as a stall where you had to guess where the treasure was on a map. The money that was raised will be given to a school in the Gambia where the pupils of Worldclass all have a pen friend which they write letters to. The money will be used to get them play equipment and many other things which we are so lucky to already have! As well as all of this they sold mouth watering ginger bread men, there was a lucky dip and they would selling chocolate.

On the 24th and 25th of May there was a Worldclass Fayre. There were 16 stalls and on them were lots of things to eat and do.  For example, guess the name of the teddy, guess where the treasure is and guess how many sweets are in the jar.  The money that we raised will go to children in Gambia.  We raised a staggering rough amount of £465.60.

Thursday 26th May 2011 – Worldclass Fayre Update

Filed under: Worldclass @ 2:12 pm

The final total raised in the Worldclass Fayre was £460.54.  This truly is an amazing amount and I am immensely proud of all 45 children who took part in the Fayre.

Bishop’s Waltham Junior School are now in a position to continue sponsoring Pahali, Assan, Isatou and Amie and therefore pay for another years education for them all.  We will have £100 left over after paying the sponsorship, and this money will be for buying something nice for both our link schools.  I will leave this decision up to the Worldclass members.

Each child who took part in the Fayre will receive a certificate congratulating them on their achievement and they will also each get 10 team merits.  One team merit for each school value they used – in my opinion they used all our values.  They certainly are an OUTSTANDING group of children and a massive well done to them all.

I would like to personally thank Mrs Barclay, Mr Fickling, Mrs Macdonald, Mrs Brown, Mr & Mrs Biddle, Mrs Stubbington and Mr Newton for their help setting up the tables and helping clear away, and also Mrs Webster and Tesco for the many eggs donated to the Fayre.

Can I also take this opportunity of thanking all the parents who donated things to the Fayre and the children and adults who came and supported us by buying from the stalls, because without them it wouldn’t have been so successful.

An OUTSTANDING event for an OUTSTANDING school.

p.s. I did try and get our school another mention on the Chris Evans breakfast show!

Wednesday 25th May 2011 – 4th Annual Worldclass Fayre

Filed under: Worldclass @ 4:47 pm

Our school children are absolutely amazing and for the past two days, 45 Worldclass members have proved just how amazing they are.

Our Gambian pen friends are Pahali, Assan, Isatou and Amie.  We are hoping to raise £90 for each child and this money will be used to pay for one years education.  Assan, Pahali and Isatou (triplets) attend Abuko Lower Basic School and Amie attends Serrekunda Lower Basic School. At the Fayre we have had 16 stalls selling a range of cakes, biscuits, books, toys, DVDs, popcorn, plants, seeds, chocolate eggs,  We have also had a chocolate fountain  with strawberries, pineapple, grapes and donuts on skewers to dip in the chocolate.  There have also been competitions such as ‘Guess how many sweets in the jar’, ‘Guess the name of the Teddy’, ‘Guess the weight of  the cake’, and a raffle for MP3 players.

Here are some of the amounts we raised.
Tuesday break time – £106.54
Tuesday after school – £109.57
Wednesday break time – £128,57

I think you will all agree this is truly an OUTSTANDING amount raised in such a short time by 45 wonderful children.  They have been enthusiastic, committed and dedicated.  I am extremely proud of them all.  Also, I strongly believe each of the children upheld all our school values over the last two days: honesty, kindness, responsibility, perseverance, thinking skills, creativity, courage, participation, positive attitude and respect.  Tomorrow I will give you this final figure!

NB – Mrs Mars and the school were mentioned on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show yesterday – listen here!

Thursday 5th May 2011 – Worldclass Fayre Announcement

Filed under: Worldclass @ 4:24 pm

On Tuesday 24th May and Wednesday 25th May, 42 Worldclass children will be taking part in our 4th Worldclass Fayre to raise money to sponsor four of our Gambian pen friends, Pahali, Isatou, Assan and Amie.  The money raised will pay for them to have full time education for one year.  Sponsoring these children is an important part of our school and it is something we are all very proud of.

The Fayre will be from 10.40am – 11.00am and 3pm – 4pm on both days.

If any of you have any toys, books or DVDs that you no longer require, we would be pleased to have them to sell at our Fayre.  Any cakes on day of the Fayre would also be very gratefully received. Thank you.

(Any items can be left in the office for Mrs Mars)
