Monday 18th October 2021- Year 3 Bronze Age Morning

Filed under: Whole School @ 2:42 pm

The children were transported back in time on Monday during a visit from the historian and author Paul Nolan. During the morning of practical activities the pupils moved the giant Saracen stones of Stonehenge across the Marlborough Plain and then hoisted them to there final positions. The children showed excellent team working skills whilst rolling the monoliths across the hall.

The children then learnt about Bronze Age religious ceremonies within the henge and in particular funeral ceremonies. It was a very sad occasion as our mighty chief Oliver had passed on and we needed to send him on to the after life with all of the correct honours. His funeral procession along the mighty avenue took place just before sunrise and he was buried with all the food and goods he would need for the afterlife.

After all of this excitement the children then spent some time sorting artefacts into Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. They really had an eye for identifying the correct time periods.
