Friday 10th September 2021 – First Week in Year Six

Year Six have settled brilliantly this week into their new position at the top end of the school. Having a complete five day week as our introduction can be a shock to the system, but we’ve got through a lot this week that will help us as we head into week two and beyond.

On Monday, we did a series of transition tasks in which we thought about ourselves as individuals, and how we can fit together as a class, producing some display work which can be seen in the classrooms (and in the pictures below). On Tuesday and Wednesday we did some initial maths and English work, our first PE lesson with Miss Jones, and an introduction to our geography topic about different biomes.

Over the last two days, we’ve completed our first RE unit about different creation stories. We have learned about a variety of creation stories from different cultures, and we have explored our own ideas about how the world began. We’ve also had our first swimming session and we’ve reminded ourselves how to access our doodle accounts.

Next week, we’ll be starting our first English and maths units properly, and getting into our different teaching groups for the first time, as well as carrying on with the topics we have started. We’re looking forward to another great week.
