Friday 30th April 2021 – Update from Year 3

Year 3 have had a great couple of weeks since returning to school after the Easter break.

In English, we have read a new text, ‘Escape From Pompeii’ by Christina Balit. Having refreshed our memories practising lots of sentence-level writings skills, the children today began writing their own version of the story. We are very impressed with the descriptive language they are using.

In Maths, we have returned to division and the use of the chunking method to solve division problems. Much resilience has been shown and there have been lots of happy ‘Eureka’ moments!

We are now enjoying athletics in our PE lessons and so far have developed our jumping and running skills.  Lets hope the sunshine returns so that we can enjoy warm Friday afternoons on the school field!

Our Science topic this half term is light and this week the classes very much enjoyed investigating materials for their reflective properties. This led to designing a new school bag to keep them safe when travelling in the dark. Here are some examples of their work:

We hope everyone has a lovely Bank Holiday weekend!
