Tuesday 2nd June – Bishop’s Waltham Zoo

Filed under: Whole School @ 7:46 am

If you were out and about enjoying a walk in the sunshine last weekend, you may have stumbled across a few rather exotic animals! From towering Giraffes, sleeping Lions, elegant Flamingos, and mischievous Monkeys, our wonderful community came together to bring us our very own Bishop’s Waltham Zoo!

Sarah Munday, Principal of Roynon Dance, Swanmore, had the brilliant idea to create a safari on foot to raise money for Marwell Zoo, who are sadly unable to receive an income from visitors during this time. Lots of local children and their parents (many from Bishop’s Waltham Junior School) got behind the idea and created their very own animal enclosures, beautiful animal artwork, and life-size wildlife models (there was even an Anaconda made from car tyres – well done Bebe!).

So far an astonishing £1386 has been raised which will help with the zoo’s daily animal expenses such as feed, bedding and heating.

Thank you to everyone who participated and donated to support Marwell Zoo. Everyone had a fabulous day and we know the staff at Marwell Zoo will be thrilled to hear how much money was raised 🙂
