Monday 11th May 2020 – Art@Home Challenge

Hopefully the weather will hold this week and we can all get out and about exploring our localities (staying alert, of course!!) While you are out, why not indulge in some artwork using found nature items, just like land artist Andy Goldsworthy? He is famous for using items such as snowflakes, twigs, icicles, reeds, tree roots and rocks to create amazing patterns and sculptures, recording the artworks through photography.

You can read more about this fascinating British artist here:

An alternative fun activity on the nature theme is nature weaving

I’m going so see if I can have a go at this with my children – it looks so much fun.  There are some useful instructions for guidance here:

There are lots more ways that you can make art with nature – let your imagination go wild! How about a nature head-dress, hanging mobile, creating a nature stick (my children love this activity: I just wrap double sided sellotape around a stick, but you can tie items on with grasses/twine). Just remember to only use fallen leaves, flowers and petals as you mustn’t pick wild flowers:

You could even make a pebble picture (I’ve made several of these over the years and they are great fun):

I really look forward to seeing what you come up with. Don’t forget to email me your photos to mrs.milne@bwjsapps.co.uk.

Happy creating,

Mrs Milne
