Thursday 13th June 2019 – Year 4 – Food tasting and environmental awareness afternoon.

This afternoon, Year 4 children were privilege to take part in an exciting food tasting event. There was a variety of locally sourced foods and drinks to taste that. The children enjoyed trying new foods and learning about where they came from. Additionally, the food was delicious! In the next few days, the children will be designing a healthy sandwich based upon foods they tasted today. The winners of this competition will be making their sandwich at the Crown Pub in Bishop’s Waltham.

Also during the session, children learnt about the impact of lunchboxes. They investigated how we could reduce our plastic waste and learnt about plastic alternatives. Finally, they designed a pattern for a beeswax wrapper competition.

A massive thank you to Davina, Tanya, Southern CO-OP, Hylands, Any Fish, Stainers Bakery and The Crown Pub who have given up their time or resources so the children could take part in a fantastic food tasting experience. Also, Year 4 would like to thank Mrs Senior for organising the event and Mrs Mars, Mrs Amos and Mrs White for their assistance on the afternoon.
