Monday 13th May 2019 – South East of England School Swimming Championships:

The boys’ medley (mixed stroke) relay team represented Hampshire in the South East of England Primary Schools Championships at Guildford Spectrum pool on Saturday evening – where both private and state schools from Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire were also taking part.

It was a superbly organised event and gave our team a taste of what it is like to swim at such a high level of attainment. Official referees scanned every move and there was no room for any errors in starts, take-overs and stroke technique.

Unfortunately, two members of the original team had to withdraw through injury and other commitments. Thankfully, two reserves were able to join the team at short notice and although there needed to be a re-shuffle of strokes, Sam C (back stroke) Harry H (breast stroke) Elliot S ( Fly) and Ben L (front-crawl) rose to the occasion and put in an excellent swim in the same time as the original team had gained in the Hampshire round.

This put them into 12th place in the South East of England which is, once again, a tremendous achievement for our school by our swimming team.

Well done to the boys and many thanks to their parents for the transport and wonderful support during the evening.

Mrs G Cooper
