Zoe N (Y5) – Qualified for this event after being selected to represent the Swanmnore Cluster.

‘Message from Zoe’s Mum’

Mr Campbell

We are just back from the Schools Hampshire Cross Country Championships where Bishops Waltham Junior School’s name was proudly on the welcome board along with the other schools in Hampshire who’s runners had qualified to race.

Zoe competed in the Under 12’s girls race where there was over 100 runners – and the majority year 6! It was a tough, muddy and very windy course with an extremely fast start. Zoe raced really well and came in 49th, within 10 seconds of 20th, it was a very closely packed field.

Initially she was really disappointed but the fact that she tried her absolute best, worked very hard and didn’t give up when it got really tough was the most important thing. Once she had got her breath back, she also realised she was very close to some year 6 girls she knows who are very good runners and has never been near and she had also beaten other girls who were close to her in previous races by a significant margin so once the emotion had reined itself in she was really pleased with her run.

She is already looking forwards to next year and has already stated that she is going to train harder and faster for 2020!

Thank you Mr Campbell for letting Zoe go to race and represent Bishops Waltham Junior School.

  1. A bit embarrassing but I am still disappointed that I only came 49th. Hopefully next year I can do a lot better. Just saying there was about 235 people racing!
