Friday 11th January 2019 – Swimming Gala Success for BWJS:

It was another fantastic performance by our swim squad members who represented school at the Eastleigh and District Year 5 and 6 swimming gala held at Wildern Pool on Thursday 10th January. Eight schools took part in the match from all over the area. There were some very strong swimmers in the other school teams and there were 4 heats to every race which meant that our team had to secure the best times possible in their heats to make sure of a place in the top 3 overall. We had some excellent individual swims but it was in the freestyle and medley relays that we excelled to come first in all four events. We were delighted at the end of the gala to find that we had won back the trophy for another year.

It was unfortunate that schools were restricted to only having 10 swimmers in the team as we had to leave out a lot of our squad members. However, there will be more chances to represent school in the near future with a match against Twyford School for all year groups at the beginning of February.

Thanks must go to all our swimmers who were incredible ambassadors for our school and to the parents who helped with transport and with the organisation on poolside.

Mrs Cooper
