Monday 9th July 2018 – Synchronised Swimming

Filed under: Whole School @ 12:06 pm

As Headteacher, I had absolutely no idea that one of our pupils participates in SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING. I love hearing about the interests that pupils have outside of school, so I thought I would share this information about Eden T (Y5).

As her mum says – ‘Eden is so understated and I know she won’t wont mention it to anyone at school but I feel she should be shouting it out from the rooftops!’

Eden got up at 4am on Saturday morning so we could take her to Portsmouth so she could travel by coach with her synchronised swimming club to the London Olympic Aquatic Pool. She stayed there all day and arrived home at 1am Sunday morning! She and her team competed for 12 and unders and had to wait until 6pm for their slot. She showed such resilience, patience, great sportsman ship and we are so very proud of her. The pool arena was packed and I don’t know how she walked on with such confidence. They weren’t placed but this is Eden’s first competition with a new team and showed such determination.

Well done Eden. Please keep us all aware of any future competitions.

Mr Campbell’s response when he heard about Eden’s news.

‘Wow.

I had no idea! I love it when I hear about the exploits of pupils out of school. In my 20 years working in education this is the first time I’ve had a pupil involved in synchronised swimming. Epic.

What a great opportunity to compete in the Olympic pool – something she will remember for a lifetime. Not sure if have the bottle to walk out to big crowds in such an iconic arena and compete.

Well done Eden.’
