Sunday 4th March 2018 – Success for BWJS Swimming Teams

Lower School Swimming Team
In February, a Lower School swimming team competed in the Eastleigh and District AquaSplash gala in which twelve schools from the area took part. As always, it was a very exciting and noisy occasion with every school putting forward a team of twelve swimmers to compete in individual and relay events. Our team of Y4 swimmers was exceptionally strong and were decisive winners; they will now go on to represent Eastleigh and District in the Hampshire Games at Aldershot Barracks in June.

Upper School Swimming Team
Six relay teams from the Upper School swim squad also represented school at the Hampshire Schools Championships at Fleet Leisure Centre at the end of February. This is always a very prestigious event with electronic score boards flashing up times in hundredths of seconds and official referees carefully watching every start and take over for illegal moves!

The standard of swimming is incredibly high with State and Private schools from all over Hampshire taking part. Our boys’ team were delighted to take the bronze medal in the 4x25m Medley and our girls’ B team were 2nd in their B freestyle relay and we also had a string of 4th and 5th places which was very pleasing considering the wonderful standard of entry.

We now await to see if any of our times will take us into the South East of England championships at Guildford in May.

Well done to all our teams.
Mrs Cooper
