Wednesday 6th December 2017 – Cyclo-Cross League:

Filed under: Whole School @ 2:24 pm

It has come to my attention that a couple of pupils at BWJS (Livvy N, Charlotte S) compete in the Wessex Cyclo-Cross League.

The league is a series of races organised by various cycling clubs within the Wessex Region. The Wessex region covers the area including Hampshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire and Wiltshire with races in Oxford, Reading, Swindon, Southampton and places in between.

The league is open to any cyclist irrespective of ability and caters for all ages from 7 to 70.

The cyclo-cross season runs from September to January and the Wessex League competition usually consists of 12 races with each race counting towards the overall league positions for individuals and clubs.

At the end of the season there is a presentation evening and awards are made in the various age categories for individual and team performances.

Livvy (Y6) is pictured here competing in her latest race. She got into the sport by following in the footsteps of her older brother.

Charlotte (Y6) came 3rd in the under 12 age group at the Southern regional cyclocross championships last Sunday.
She made it into 3rd by 0.2 of a second in a sprint finish! ….no medals but a lovely water bottle as a prize instead.

Well done Livvy & Charlotte. We look forward to hearing about future races.

Mr D Campbell
