Thursday 13th July 2017 – Year 3 fly to Florida!

Yesterday, Year 3 went on a very exciting trip to Florida! They have been learning about the American State as part of their Geography topic and yesterday was all about real experiences. The children had made their own passports for homework, they cam dressed in their holiday clothes and brought a teddy along for the ride. We were very lucky to have Mr Barnes join us for some of the day as he was able to talk about his job as a pilot and help the children to understand what an airport is like and how the planes operate before, during and after landing.

The children did some comparison work about Gatwick Airport and Orlando International Airport, as well as comparing the High Street in Bishop’s Waltham with International Drive in Orlando. We then went to the park for a picnic before returning to school to complete some map work about The Magic Kingdom in Disney World.

The children (and adults!) had a fantastic day! Thank you to Mr Barnes for giving up his time to support the children’s learning.
