Thursday 8th June 2017 – Food tasting in Years 3 and 4

Throughout June and July, Years 3 and 4 will be taking part in ‘Bishop’s Waltham Bites’ – a food project involving local food produce from Hampshire. The children will be designing and making a healthy pasta salad for a sporting event. As part of this project, the children took part in some food tasting with Davina Tibbetts who has worked with each year group to develop their cooking skills over the past few years. The children tasted a range of products from the local range available from the Coop – this included tomatoes, a range of cheeses, fish and strawberries. They also tried some artisan breads available from Stainers bakery and apple juice available from Hylands. The children now have the task of designing their pasta salad using one of the products available from the local range, along with some salad items too.

It was great fun trying all of the food…the bread and strawberries were a firm favourite with everyone (including the adults!)
