Tuesday 14th March 2017 – Hampshire Swimming Championships

On Friday 10th March, teams from our Upper School Swim Squad competed in the Hampshire round of the English Primary Schools Swimming Championships at Waterlooville. As always, the standard of swimming at this event was incredible with the best swimming teams from the whole of Hampshire taking part.

Our two boys freestyle teams were in the 1st race and came in 1st place and 5th place. The girls freestyle team then had their turn. Unfortunately, an eagle-eyed judge declared a disqualification on what we thought was a good take-over by the ‘A’team,’ who came in 4th and our ‘B’ team took 6th place.

In the medley (mixed stroke) races our boys teams took 2nd place and 5th place and the girls missed out on 3rd place by 3/100 of a second and the ‘B’ team to 7th place.

The Boys ‘A’ teams will now definitely go onto compete in the South East of England Primary Schools Championships at Guildford in May and the Girls ‘A’ medley team might also get through – we will have to wait to find out.
Well done to all who competed – you were fantastic ambassadors for our school.

Mrs Cooper
