Friday 18th December 2015: End of Term Festivities:

Filed under: Whole School @ 4:26 pm

2015 has been another extremely busy and eventful year at BWJS. I would like to take this opportunity to praise the dedication and commitment of the school staff, hardworking attitudes of the pupils and the wonderful support from the parents, governors and community. We are always looking to further improve the provision at BWJS and your support is always fully appreciated. Roll on 2016!

Listed below are just some of the Christmas activities that pupils/staff have been involved in at Bishop’s Waltham Junior School over the past few weeks.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

SCHOOL EVENTS:

Carol Service:
Thank you very much to everyone who attended the Christmas Carol Service at St Peter’s Church yesterday evening. The readers and choir members performed brilliantly and it was beautiful to see so many parents and community members enjoying themselves whilst singing the carols. It truly was a special Christmas event and a fitting way to end what has been a very busy term for both staff and pupils.

Thanks must also go to Mrs Arnold for organising the event.

Christmas Lunch:
On Thursday 17th December everyone at BWJS tucked into a beautiful Christmas lunch. The kitchen cooked up a wonderful meal of turkey, sausage, potatoes, carrots and peas, and served ice cream, biscuits and satsumas for dessert.

Staff handed out food and crackers, but still found time to eat with their classes. Many thanks to Mrs. Kidd and her team for organising this event!

All the children were tasked with making a Christmas themed hat which they had to wear during the lunch. I have to say the level of creativity was outstanding! Thank you to everyone who participated. Teachers had the very difficult task of selecting a winning boy and girl per class – these pupils received a present whilst parading their winning designs around the lunch hall.

Well done to:
Annie C, Toby W, Anya P, Devon A (Year 3)
James M, Amelia W-M, Aiden J, Grace B (Year 4)
Kate J, Freddie F, Liam H, Maddie H (Year 5)
Nayen J, Abbie W, Libby A, Imogen D (Year 6)

Christmas choir:
The school’s Christmas choir has been working hard over the last few weeks, successfully completed a number of festive performances. On Thursday 3rd December, over 100 children gathered in Bishop’s Waltham to sing on the lorry as part of the Street Fair. It was a great start to the festive season as they sang a variety of modern Christmas songs and traditional carols. The terrible weather didn’t keep the crowds away as they were very well supported by friends and family members
The choir also performed at the PTA Christmas Fair, at Ridgemede Rest Home, and of course – at the carol service, last night.
Well done choir – you have spread a lot of festive cheer!
