Tuesday 10th November 2015 – Hampshire Cup, second round

Yesterday, the year 5 and 6 football team played in the second round of the Hampshire Cup against Sarisbury Junior School.  Despite the weather being very cold and windy, this did not dampen the spirits of the boys when the whistle blew.

Sarisbury scored early on and it was clear that this wasn’t going to be an easy match.  However, we were awarded penalty shortly after which was taken expertly by George and the score was level at 1-1.  The boys continued to play with great determination and skill, but unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side and after shots on goal were denied, the match ended 7-1 to Sarisbury Junior School.

To show there were no hard feelings, both schools agreed to a 5 minute friendly match where both teams were mixed and the pressure was off.  This showed great sportsmanship and respect for each other and it was a fitting way to end the match.

Well done to all the boys – Noah, Ben C, Freddy, Dominic, Oscar, Sam, George and Josh – you were a real credit to the school.

A big thank you to the parents who braved the weather to come and support our team.  And thank you to Mr Geraghty who refereed our match.

The boys will now be playing a friendly match against Swanmore Primary School in 2 weeks.
