Thursday 1st October 2015 – Maths Workshop

It’s unusual for the school hall to be full of children doing maths at 6:30 in the evening – it’s even more unusual for the hall to be full of adults doing the same thing!

This evening saw BWJS host a parent’s workshop for addition and subtraction in maths.  We have seen some big changes in the maths curriculum in the last two years, so this was an opportunity for people to come in and find out which methods we are now using in school.  It’s been a great chance for some of our children to demonstrate the learning they have done this year to their parents who will now (hopefully!) be able to help their maths continue to develop at home.

A huge thank you to everyone – parents and children – who came to this event.  Your support makes a huge difference.  Thanks also to Miss Chase for organising and presenting the evening, and to the other members of staff who stayed to help.

For anyone who missed this evening, or for anyone who would like to look in more detail at how we do maths at BWJS, our maths calculation progression can be found here.
