Friday 25th September 2015 – Girls’ Football Tournament

On Tuesday 22nd September, Mrs Peach took nine girls to an under 11s football tournament at Wildern School in Hedge End.

The girls were in a mini league and played four 5 minute matches against teams from Freegrounds, Botley, St Johns and Wellstead. Despite the appalling weather and not having played a competitive game since March, the girls put on an amazing performance, improving in every game they played.

The first two games were drawn 0 – 0, a real achievement against some tough opposition. As the girls’ confidence grew, they looked more and more threatening, resulting in wins in their last two games, both ending 2 – 0 (goals scored by Mia C and Halle R in the first game and both goals scored by Mia in the second).

At the end of the tournament, Bishop’s Waltham Junior School finished joint first in their league on 8 points, coming second to St Johns only on goal difference.
The girls were an absolute credit to the school and their parents and can be very proud of their performance.

Well done to all of you!
(Mia C, Amelia C, Flora D, Jodi P, Chloe G, Halle R, Anna S, Libby A and Naomi I).
