Swimming match against Twyford School:

Last week, twenty-four members of our school swim squad travelled to Twyford Prep School for a swimming match. We have not had a match against them for a few years and so we were not sure what to expect!

For some of our team, it was their first time in a school team but everyone was nervous as they proudly walked out onto the poolside in their swim squad team kit to sit and look across at the Twyford opposition on the opposite side of the pool!

So many of the races were incredibly close, in fact one race was won by Twyford by 7/10ths of a second! Although, at the end of the match, we had just lost to Twyford by a few points, all our swimmers performed at their absolute best and were such a credit to our school. Throughout the match the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and enthusiasm and the Twyford teacher was full of praise for the good sportsmanship demonstrated by everyone in our team… and immediately asked for a re-match later in the year.

Thanks must go to Mrs Camaeron and Mrs Smith who helped Mrs Cooper and Mrs Cresswell on poolside and to all of our parents who kindly gave lifts and gave us fantastic support from the gallery.

Mrs Cooper
