Thursday 6th November 2014 – Tag Rubgy becoming a hit at BWJS:

Two sports coaches, both named LEE, started working at Bishop’s Waltham Junior School this week. We are using a part of the schools SPORT PREMIUM funding to enlist the experience of two coaches to deliver a 6 WEEK UNIT OF WORK of TAG RUBGY to every class.

The teachers will be working alongside the coaches to aid with their continued professional development whilst the children will benefit from learning the skills of a new competitive game. The coaches will also be running an after school Tag Rugby club (with no cost to the pupils) for those pupils who express an interest in the sport.

The early feedback from both the pupils and the teachers has been very positive. The pupils have shown great motivation during the sessions this week and a real desire to learn. Perhaps some budding future internationals!

The coaches want the pupils to have the weekly sessions on the GRASS – so please ensure the children come into school with a sports kit (warm clothes) and studded footwear or trainers. These can then be taken home each week to wash.
