Tuesday 14th October 2014 – Safe Route to School Audit

Filed under: Whole School @ 6:31 pm

On Friday 3rd October, the schools WOW monitors and two Junior Road Safety Officers participated in a safe route to school audit. They were accompanied by two representatives from Hampshire County Council’s road safety team, two of our school governors and the local PCSO. They were tasked with identifying possible locations around Bishop’s Waltham where parents could park their cars and walk, with their children, on a safe route to school. The aim is reduce the number of cars around the school at drop off/collection times by encouraging more families to PARK & STRIDE.

The JRSO’s and WOW monitors are now in the process of trying to persuade the PARISH COUNCIL to allow parents to park their cars at the following locations when dropping off or collecting their children from school.

– Jubilee Hall Car Park
– Hoe Road Recreation Ground
– Basingwell Car Park

If we are given the green light, parents will be issued with a ‘Park & Stride’ sticker for their car windscreen, along with a map showing the safe route to walk to school from the parking location.

We will of course keep you informed.
