Monday 9th June 2014 – Quad Kids Athletics Event

This afternoon, 8 children from the upper school, took part in a South Eastleigh and Winchester Partnership Athletics event. The event took place at Wyvern College and the children were joined by 5 other schools – Botley Primary, Stoke Park Juniors, Netley Abbey Juniors, Berrywood Primary and Upham.

The children had to take part in 4 events – a 75m sprint, Standing Long Jump, 600m distance run and a Vortex throw. The aim was to accumulate the most amount of points for their team – the team with the most points would go on to represent the Partnership at the Hampshire Games on June 20th.

The children were split into 4 teams and rotated around each activity – they were either timed for their running or had their distances for their throws and jumps measured. These were then converted into points and the total was added and read out at the end.

The children showed really good sporting talent – some brilliant throws from both the girls and boys as well as some great running. It was a great experience for the children to run on an actual running track!

Overall, BWJS came 6th with a total score of 1,222 points – this was a great achievement and they should all feel very proud of themselves. As usual, the children were all very well behaved and cheered on not only their own team members but the other competitors too. Well done to Millie, Georgia, Amy, Elspeth, Freddie, Max, Alex and Archie. A big thank you to the parents who provided transport to and from the event and were able to cheer our team on.
