Sunday 10th November 2013 – Matchbox Competition:

Filed under: FOBs Events,Whole School @ 6:24 pm

Just before the half term holidays, pupils were given the opportunity to participate in a competition organised by FoBS (Friends of Bishop’s Waltham School.) They were challenged to see how many DIFFERENT items they could fit inside a standard sized matchbox.

The pupils worked very hard fitting in lots of various items into their boxes. There was some really imaginative choice of items, including, postage stamps, blades of grass, rice, tap washers and even a toe nail clipping (Yuk!)

As with any competition there has to be winners! Well done to:
Y6 Cedar – Alex C (76 items)
Y5 Eucalyptus – Thomas H (77 items)
Y5 Tamarind – Megan H (27 items)
Y4 Redwood – Kayleigh R (35 items)
Y3 Maple – Zak C (33 items)
Y3 Gingko – Oscar F (AN INCREDIBLE 112 ITEMS)

Each of the winners received a voucher (kindly donated by Bishop’s Waltham Community Swimming) entitling them to a free fun swim at the school swimming pool. These were presented to the pupils in the celebration assembly on Friday 8th November.

Thank you very much to all of the pupils who entered the competition and to Mrs Creswell – for organising it. I wonder what she will have in store next? Watch this space!

Mr Campbell
