Tuesday 6th November 2012 – Swanmore and District Cross Country Competition:

Filed under: Cross Country,PE,Whole School @ 10:48 am

On Tuesday 6th November, 12 children from years 3-6 competed in the District Cross Country event at Swanmore Primary School.  The runners had been selected from the cross country running club, which is held every Tuesday morning with Mr. Campbell.

The course was about 1mile in length, exceptionally muddy and required the children to begin by running UP a long hill. The children competed against other pupils from across the local schools.  There were TWO races – (Boys/Girls) with 35 competitors in each race.

All of the pupils from BWJS were incredible – they navigated themselves around a very difficult course, showing great stamina and perseverance.  The support from parents really spurred the pupils along and this was very much appreciated.

Out of the 6 schools that took part, BWJS girls’ team finished in 4th place and the boys’ finished in 2nd.  A REAL CREDIT! All of the runners deserve huge congratulations and we now look forward to the next race at Droxford, in February.

(Well done to Zac N, Carl O’F, Aaron D, Torryn H, Alex C, Bradley W, Ben G, Bea C, Jodie P, Lydia H, Zoe T, Leah C)

Zac Nickson (Y6) finished the race 2nd place overall (out of 35) and will now represent the DISTRICT at a cross country event held later in the term. WELL DONE.

I would also like to add a special well done to Ben Grigg and Jodie Price – as they were the only pupils (from Y3) competing in the event.

(Mr Campbell)
