Thursday 25th October 2012 – Results of the egg experiment!

Maple class discovered the fate of the eggs which had been left in 5 different liquids for 2 days this morning in Science.  After much speculation that some might have exploded, we lifted each egg out of the liquid carefully and observed the outer shell and compared its appearance to that of 2 days ago. There was little change in the shell of the eggs in water and milk, but noticeable change in the coffee egg which had stained brown.  In addition, the shell of the egg in the fizzy drink had turned brown and had begun to peel away and the shell of the egg in the tropical juice created a brown film which stripped the enamel away when scraped back.  The children have all said how important it is to brush their teeth so that they stay healthy and do not become damaged by the food they eat and drink.
