Wednesday 27th June 2012 – Year 4 Personal Best Event

Today, the children in Year 4 took part in the 2012 Personal Best Event which was held at the Winchester Sports Stadium. It was the culminating event for the children who have been working hard over the past few months to improve their scores in a range of different activities.

The children took part in 6 different physical activities – Speed Bounce, Shuttle Run, Sprinting, Target Theow, Chest Push and the Standing Long Jump. They all had at least one go of the activity, and they recorded their score or distance in their own 2012 Personal Best booklets. The aim was to create their very own ‘PB’ today compared to their attempts at these activities in October and March.

The activities were run by Junior Sports Leaders from a variety of different secondary schools. As well as taking part in the activities, the children were thinking about the London Olympics and what it means to them and were visited by two very special characters – Wenlock and Mandeville, the Olympic and Paralympic Mascots!

Mrs Phillips and I were very proud of the effort and support shown by the children and as ever, they were very well behaved. This was a great activity to fit in to our Olympic Week at BWJS.
