Tuesday 20th March 2012 – Cross Country Relay Invitational Competition:
Every member of the schools’ cross country club competed this morning in the annual cross country relay invitational event held at Fair Oak Junior School. 28 pupils arrived at school (early) all dressed in their sports gear (kindly supplied by FOBS) contemplating what the event had in in store for them.
Pupils were organised into teams of 4 and raced against other schools within the same age bracket. (Lower school girls/Lower school boys/Upper school girls/Upper school boys). Each member of the team had to race one leg of a 900m circuit before passing the relay baton onto the next competitor. The majority of schools, including us, entered a number of teams within each race, so on some occasions there were in excess of 30 TEAMS competing.
The atmosphere was fantastic and the pupils were a real credit to themselves and the school. Every team member gave 100% and showed tremendous support to all of their peers throughout the races. This was the first time that a number of our pupils had participated in such a large competitive event and they found themselves running against some top class elite young runners.
Well done to all of the pupils for taking part – the effort and commitment you show week in week out at cross country club paid off today and I’M PROUD OF YOU ALL!
Thank you also to all of the parents who helped transport the pupils to the event and for showing your continued support. It is very much appreciated.
