Thursday 15th March 2012 – Quiz Club area heat
Today, eight of our children represented the school in the National Quiz club Championships in the general knowledge category. Several weeks ago, all the children in the school took part in a general knowledge quiz in their classes. The top two children from each year group were then put forward to create two teams for the area heats. Each team was made up of a child from each year group. Over the last couple of weeks they have been completing practise quizzes and learning how to get the best score, regardless of whether they know the answer or not!
This afternoon, we travelled to St.Francis Primary School in Chandler’s Ford and went head-to-head against ten other teams who had travelled from across the local area. In total there were forty questions and some which were very tricky indeed! The teams did very well and worked together to maximise their points scored.
After a well-fought battle, the winning team scored 2230 and our Team 2 came second overall with a brilliant score of 1940. Well done Fergus McGovern, Ben Hutley, Ben Wainwright and Kirsten Morgan (team 1) and Jennifer Tait, Jake Nutley, Caitlin Soul and Shaun Walker (team 2).
In total, there will be 125 area heats across the country and the winners from each heat will go forward into the next round. We are keeping our fingers crossed though, as the top scoring second place team across all the heats will also be put through!
All the children should be very proud of their effort and achievement.
