Friday 16th March 2012 – Celebration Assembly
Mr Campbell started our Celebration Assembly this morning by welcoming our visitors into school and by congratulating all the children on the amazing way they had quietly walked into the hall (well done BWJS children)!
Team Merit certificates were given to Robert, Abby W and Issy (50 merits), Emily, Briony, Olivia, Joseph and Leah (100 merits), Grace (150 merits) and Millie (350 merits). Miss Pearmain presented Swanmore & District Netball Rally certificates to Abby, Ciara, Jenny, Katy, Kirsten, Libby and Robert. Oakley was presented with two shields for Speech and Mime from the British Theatre Dance Association. This follows his successful stage debut at Christmas in The Mayflower production of Peter Pan, where he played twin one of the Lost Boys. A BWJS star is born!
A Reading at Home certificate for 20 hours was awarded to Amy O. Certificate of Merit certificates for karate were awarded to Daniel, Kirsten, Charlotte, Harry, Archie, Brandon and Josh. Music certificates were awarded to Michael and Zac for playing the guitar, Natasha for playing the clarinet and Abby, Abbie and Holly for playing the flute. The following children received Literacy Target certificates from Miss Pearmain: Annabel, Beth, Caitlin, Daisy, Daniel, Ellie, Georgia, Sam, Liam, Luke, Harry, James, Jayden, Joseph, Joshua, Molly, Kaiyah and Olivia.
Team Merit results: 1st – Lions (119), 2nd – Leopards (113) 3rd – Tigers (96) and 4th – Pumas (93).
Mrs Daniels took two teams of children to Chandlers Ford yesterday for them to take part in the area heats of a quiz. The children did amazing well and Mrs Daniels was very proud of them all. Well done to Team One (Ben, Ben, Fergus and Kirsten) and Team 2 (Jake, Caitlin, Shaun and Jennifer) who came second.
Pen Passport certificates were presented to Alfie, Alex and Tarryn. These children can now use pen when writing in class.
This week’s Value of the Week was showing your Responsibility and the teachers from each class chose a child who has shown this value, not just this week but throughout the term. The children chosen were Ella (Redwood), Michael (Tamarind), Katie Ellen (Eucalyptus), Matthew (Hawthorn), Evie (Cedar), Jo (Jackalberry), Ellie (Maple) and Jack (Gingko) who was this week’s cup winner.
The children and staff then beautifully sang ‘As One’ with Kirsten, Libby and Oakley singing solo for the first verse and then then Years 5 and 6 singing the next verse with Year 3 & 4 singing the final verse.
Great Plant Hunt pupil of the week awarded to Lewis for his sketching of the daffodils at the bottom of the school field. Worldclass pupil of the week was chosen by Libby, Abby W and Kirsten. Libby presented the certificate to Scott.
Mr Campbell finished assembly by congratulating all the children who received one of the wide variety of certificates in assembly this morning.
