Friday 10th Febraury – Droxford Cross Country
Yesterday, 14 children from years 4-6 competed in the Swanmore and District Cross Country event at Droxford. The children were split into 3 teams – a boys’ team, a girls’ team and a reserve team. They had been selected from the cross country running club held every Tuesday morning by Mr Campbell.
The course is about 1km in length and requires the children to begin by running down a long hill, then onto relatively flat land, turning round and coming back to complete the lap. This means the final part of the lap is uphill, which can be daunting. However, as usual, our runners did not disappoint and they really put their heart and soul into the race yesterday. Both boys’ and girls’ teams came second overall, and all of the reserves finished in the top 10, a real achievement. Luckily the sun shone for the runners despite being bitterly cold and VERY muddy and slippy – some would argue perfect running conditions!
A huge congratulations to all of the runners who took part yesterday and thank you to the parents who came along and gave their support.
