Thursday 26th January 2012 – Nets and 3D objects in Year 4
All this week, Miss Pearmain’s maths set have been looking at 3D shapes. We have been thinking about the correct language to use when describing the properties of 3D shapes and what 2D shapes we can see on 3D objects. We investigated this further today by looking at a range of nets. We discovered that a net is a 3D shape opened out flat. We had a variety of nets to cut out and make and we made a fact file about each 3D object, applying our knowledge from earlier on in the week. There was lots of mathematical discussion in our lesson today!
