Monday 3rd October 2011 – Harvest Assembly

Filed under: Whole School @ 8:40 am

Mrs Daniels took our Harvest assembly on Friday morning and started by congratulating all the children on how beautifully they walked into the hall and for sitting and listening quietly to ‘Fields of Gold’.

Mrs Daniels thanked all the children for bringing in so many products to be shared with our local community and then read the poem The Land is Ours.  A child from each class was chosen to stand next to our magnificent Harvest display and have their photograph taken.  Seven children were then chosen to hold the letters HARVEST  and Mrs Daniels asked all the children to find alternative words from these letters.  The children came up with STARVE and SHARE. Mrs Daniels then explained the importance of these two words, especially at Harvest time.

The children then sang ‘Harvest Song’ brilliantly and Mrs Daniels told them it was a lovely way to end our Harvest Assembly.

This week’s Value of the Week was Responsibility.  Our winners were Olivia (Cedar), Libby (Eucalyptus) Amy (Jackalberry), Megan (Gingko), Josh (Maple), Zak (Tamarind) who won the cup this week, Emily (Redwood) and Jake (Hawthorn). Worldclass Pupils of the Week was awarded to Amy and Jessica.

This week’s team merits results – 1st – Tigers, 2nd – Leopards (155), 3rd – Lions (165) and 4th – Pumas (150)

After assembly the produce from our Harvest assembly was divided up equally, put into over one hundred bags with letters and cards and delivered by Year 6 children.
