Monday 8th November 2010 – Sporting Success

Filed under: Cross Country @ 4:01 pm

At the end of October, swimming teams took part in a very exciting gala against St. Swithun’s School, Winchester and put up an extremely creditable performance with 239 points to their hosts’ 258. Teams from Years 3,4,5 and 6 took part and even though our year 3 children have only been attending swim squad for a few weeks, they were a real asset to the team. Many of the events were won or lost with only hundredths of seconds between the swimmers and the final result was in the balance right up to the relay races at the end of the gala The well-drilled and smart appearance of all the twenty eight team members in their new “T Bag” tops obviously impressed onlookers and we were very proud of them all.

The second Cross-Country competition at Fleming Park in November involved 250 pupils who came from schools all over the Hamble Partnership. All our runners gave their very best with some outstanding performances over a long and arduous course.  Archie excelled by coming 1st out of 79  runners and Abby, Isabel and Emily came in 9th,14th and 15th place out of 69 runners in the Year 5 and 6 events.  In the Year 3 and 4 events Bea and Lydia came 9th and 12th place out of 38 and in the boys’ event Adam made it into the top twenty by coming 19th in a field of forty-nine  Well done to all the twenty boys and girls in the team.
